Dr Grant McAree is a dentist based in Devon. He began dominating his area and became the leading provider of Invisalign in the Southwest of England. But how did he do it?

The background

Dr Grant McAree is well known in the dental world as a successful dentist, entrepreneur, and marketer.

This award-winning principal practitioner set up a group on Facebook called ‘Dental Business & Marketing Group’. It hosts a lively community of dentists, and it is where they share tips and tricks to help each other out with real-world marketing. It is the largest group of its kind on Facebook.  

In Exeter, he amalgamated several different practices into one single practice, The Whyte House Dental Group, to become the leading provider of Invisalign in the Southwest of England.

Now, he is a Invisalign Diamond provider.

“People say well done when you become diamond.

But there’s been no added Invisalign skills.

You’ve just got to find a good marketer to get the patients in!”

The challenge

Grant wanted to do more Invisalign cases, and while he wasn’t afraid to take on some of the marketing himself, he realised he needed some help from the experts. ‘Like I’ve always said, it ain’t rocket science, but if you want to do it well, you need to get the big guns in.’

“I don’t have the time to work out what happens after the patients click the advert. There’s a whole flow to build, and that’s a specialist thing. It means people are more eager to buy, and you lose the patients who aren’t quite ready to go ahead just yet.’’

Grant admitted to having tried to learn the marketing techniques needed to market his dental practice successfully, to no avail.  

The process

One of our marketing strategies for the practice was introducing an online deposit. This meant that potential patients couldn’t book a virtual consultation without paying a deposit. This tends to lead to more commitment from the right kind of patients and a higher conversion rate. In Grant’s case, it led to an almost 100% conversion rate. 

‘’I’m achieving a conversion rate of about 100% for patients who have virtual consultations because they’ve paid the £10 deposit.’’

Grant managed to fill up his calendar with completely new patients willing to follow through with high-end treatments such as Invisalign. 

‘’With no word of a lie, it has been a life-changer for me.’’

Other advice from our growth experts included buying a new scanner to be able to fit all these new patients in. This turned out great for the practice. 

The transformation

Thanks to the marketing campaigns, which were carefully curated and optimised by our growth team experts, Grant saw a significant uptake in Invisalign patients. In fact, he not only doubled the size of the team to accommodate all the new patients, he also doubled the turnover. 

But perhaps the major success of all was that he managed to sell his practice for a remarkable 7-figure sum. 

“We were doing around five cases a month, and now I’m a diamond provider – so obviously, that’s made a massive difference.”

Some of the benefits Grant has seen are that while previously he worked six days a week, 8 am-6 pm, he has been able to reduce his working week to just three days a week without losing the income. These days are more productive, and it allows him to spend more time with his family.
